Betty Jean Slade, age 84, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Harrison County on December 3, 1936 to the late Herschal “Mart” Martimere and Helena F. “Fee” Mulligan Cole. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Slade; two sons, Wallace Wilson, Terry Wayne Slade; one daughter, Sandra Slade Fritz; six brothers, Jackie Cole, Kenneth Epperson, David Cole, Garrett Cole, Hughie Cole, Randal Cole; and three sisters, Peggy Reed, Iona Callahan, and Janice Sutherland. She is survived by three sons, Ron (Pat) Slade, Ricky (Kathy) Slade, Roger (Shelley) Slade; two daughters, Pat (Mac) Hill, Carla (Lloyd) Hughes; four sisters, Patsy Manley, Linda Carson, Martha Gaunce, Doris Morris; seven grandchildren, Mark Hill, Matthew (Rachel) Hill, Lacy (James) Johnson, Annie Haney, Rebekah (Kevin) Wilson, Sydney (Michael) Cox, Brady Slade; and seven great-grandchildren, Summer Hill, Mia Hill, Jolie Hill, Emma Johnson, Ella Haney, Kathryn Wilson, and Asher Cox.
