Obituary for Dewey L. Miller

Dewey L. Miller, age 95, of Mt. Olivet, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020 at Robertson County Healthcare Facility. He was born in Mt. Olivet on June 3,1924 to the late Pete Burns Miller and Hettie McConnell Miller. Dewey was a World War II Navy Veteran and avid farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Olivet Masonic Lodge and the Mt. Olivet First Christian Church for many years. He ran Miller’s Hardware Store and Machine Shop for twenty-six years. Dewey loved to spend time in his workshop. He was known for taking anything that was unfixable and fixing it. His continuous tinkering lead to many restored, repaired and built items. But most of all, he loved spending time with his Jelly Bean.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Thelbert Miller and his wife, Mabelle; his brother, Carl Miller and his wife, Theodosia “Dodie; his sister, Evelyn Miller Anderson and her husband, Marion”; his brother, Lyle Miller and his sister, Melba Miller Henson and her husband, Porter.
Dewey is survived by his wife of seventy years, Geneva Cooper Miller; two daughters, Cathy Miller Denham and her husband, Harry and Kimberly Miller Bryant; a granddaughter, Jessica Grace Gasser and her husband, Ollie; a great grandson, Benjamin Joseph Gasser; his sister in law, Alice Miller, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 4th at 11:00 AM at Robertson County Funeral Home by Bro. Seth Adamson. Visitation will be Monday, February 3rd from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Robertson County Funeral Home with a Masonic service starting at 7:00 PM. Burial will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Dwaine Miller, Jeff Miller, Mark Miller, Timothy Miller, Travis Miller, Lanny McConnell and Jason Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Lyle Burns Anderson and Larry Miller.
