Obituary for Doris Jean Cain (Anderson)

Doris Jean Anderson Cain, Mt. Olivet, age 81 passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at University of Kentucky Bluegrass Hospice Care Center. She was born in Harrison County on April 1, 1942 to the late John and Bessie Henderson Anderson. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Anderson; a brother-in-law, Billy Ashcraft, a great-granddaughter, RayLon Bryant; and son-in-law, Ricky Myers.
Doris was raised on a farm in Robertson County with her two siblings, Betty and Jerry. In later years she had twin brothers, Eddie and Freddie. She attended Kentontown School in elementary years then graduated from Deming School in 1960. Doris married Lonnie T. Cain, December 10, 1959, and had two children, Sherry and Lon. Doris was a housewife, mother, and farmer until she decided to pursue a teaching career. She graduated from Morehead State University in 1971 and completed her master’s degree in 1979. Doris taught Health and P.E. and was the track coach for 27 years at Mason County High School. Later she taught Health at Deming School. Doris after that worked as a full-time realtor for six years with much success, she served on the Robertson County Library board for several years. Doris loved to play golf, dance, and watching sports on T.V. She spent the last 18 years with her special friend and caregiver, Gary Acuff.
She is survived by her son; Lon Leslie Cain; a daughter, Sherry Jean Cain Myers; two brothers, Eddie (Loraine) Anderson, Freddie (Teresa) Anderson; a sister, Betty Ashcraft; six grandchildren, Ashley (Amanda) Myers, Aaron (Kristen) Myers, Andrew (Donnie) Myers, CharLonda Cain Bryant, Christian (Vicki) Cain, Chase (Alexxi) Cain; eleven great-grandchildren, Ashton Myers, Allie Myers, Elsie Myers, Clara Myers, Lane Myers, Tristian Cain, Declan Cain, Aliza Cain, Gracie Bryant, Ryleigh Bryant, and Lincoln Johnson; a special friend, Gary Acuff; a special niece, Anita Corbin; and two wonderful caregivers, Ashley McCord and Vicki Ritchie.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Robertson County Funeral Home with visitation on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in Kentontown Cemetery pallbearers; will be, Ashley Myers, Aaron Myers, Andrew Myers, Christian Cain, Chase Cain and Bradford Acuff.
