Obituary for George Philip Yancey

George Philip “Phil” Yancey, age 81, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He was born in Ashland, KY on February 5, 1940 to the late George W. and Georgia Wilby Yancey.
Phil was a retired 1961 West Point Graduate, a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, and was a retired processing engineer at 3M. He was also a member of the Promise Keepers at First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Carole Dean (Bishop) Yancey; one son, Philip (Trish) Yancey of Simpsonville; three daughters, Debbie (Ed) Duffy of Altamonte Springs Florida, Phyllis (Jim) Cooper, and Katherine (Bill) Hanley, both of Lexington; three step-sons, Scott Bishop of San Antonio Texas, Clint Bishop of Cynthiana, Blake (Kimberly Rae) Bishop of Paris; one sister, Ava Lou (Andy Land) Kinney of Ashland; eleven grandchildren, Tyler King, Lauren King, Corey Elam, Sarah Cooper, Camden Hanley, Angel Gill, Crystal Yancey, Veronica Yancey, Michael David Yancey, JD Soard, Kyla Soard; and several great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, May 6th at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, with Ted Beam officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 5th from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Ware Funeral Home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery.
