Obituary for Herbert Allen Moore

Herbert Allen Moore, of Cynthiana, KY, age 93, passed away on March 19, 2024, at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center. He was born on May 13, 1930, to the late Herbert and Artie Bradford Moore. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Annette Bradley Moore; a son, Eugene Fox Collier Jr.; and a daughter, Jennie Ruth Cox.
Herbert is survived by a son, Herbert Bradley (Tami) Moore; three daughters, Charlotte Allen Charlton, Connie Artie (Lynn Posze) Moore, Mary Ollie “Mollie” Moore; grandchildren, Sara Cox (Tom) Donkin, Susan Carol Cox, Carlyn Collier, Jennifer Charlton, Tasia Moore, Tara Moore, Tanner Moore; and four great-grandchildren, Matthew Collier, Madeline Charlton, Aiden Donkin, Anaya Donkin.
Though many knew Herbert for his artistic ability, he was so much more than just that. An Army Veteran who served in the Korean War, he attended the KY Military Institute and continued supporting it and all students it produced. Herbert earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky, though he didn’t use his education degree for many years, except for teaching Sunday School at the United Methodist Church, where he was a lifelong member. Working with the Sunday school was a true passion of his. He also loved History, especially Harrison County history. Herbert was involved with the Harrison County Museum from the beginning, as well as so many other local events, businesses, and was very dedicated to the children and people who lived in Harrison County. Herbert so loved everyone he met, and likewise. His legacy will live on in so many ways.
A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cynthiana Harrison County Museum, 124 S Walnut St., Cynthiana, KY 41031. View and sign the guest book www.warefuneralhome.com.
