Obituary for Howard T. Welch Sr.
Howard T. Welch Sr., age 91, Cynthiana, died Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Grand Haven Nursing Home in Cynthiana, Ky. Born in Bourbon County, on January 23, 1931 to the late William and Susie Williams Welch, he was retired from the Bundy Tubing company and a member of Salem Church of Christ. He was an avid Harrison County High School sports fan and supporter of the basketball, football, baseball, softball and soccer teams. He also supported the Scott County basketball and football teams. Howard was recognized by the Harrison County baseball team as “Fan of the year” in 1999, he and Harlene were also recognized by the Harrison County Fillies basketball team as “Fan of the year” in 1998-1999. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother James Welch.
He is survived by his wife Harlene M. Welch; a son, Howard (Mattie) T Welch Jr.;three daughters, Patty (Carroll) Hill Doyle, Delores (Frank) Langford Green and Katherine (Roger) Sue Welch Beckett; three stepchildren, Jeffrey T. Fryman, Dora Louann Fryman and Leslie (Lisa) Fryman; eleven grandchildren, Christin (Steve) Jackson, James Edwin Hill, Amy Arlyn Howard, Amanda Jane Hoffman, Patrick Christopher (Melinda) Beckett, Ritchie Lynn Welch, Howard Welch III, Tabitha Hyatt (Ronnie Morgan), Heather Ritchie, Corey Michael (Katie) Rogers and Payton Michael Boisseau; eighteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 13, 2023 at Ware Funeral Home by Dale Kendrick. Visitation will be Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, following the service.
Active pallbearers will be Carroll Doyle, Roger Beckett, Steve Jackson, Patrick Beckett, Dylan Hill and Corey Rogers.
