James “Jimmy” Shields, age 72, Cynthiana, died Saturday, August 6, 2022 at his residence. Born on January 24, 1950 in Mt. Olivet, to the late Malen “Poodle” and Lorena Mae Collins Shields, he was an accomplished upholsterer, owner of The Trim Shop and a United States Navy veteran. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Jarrell, special friends, Noel Phillips, Jr., Billy Brunker, Allen Wolfe and Rankin “Boodle” Roberts, Jr. and a very special dog, Ice.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Marshall Shields; a son, Chris (Julie) Shields; two daughters, Jamie (Larry) Pierce and Lisa (Darrell) O’Brien; a brother, Gary Shields; six grandchildren, Owen Shields, Lincoln Shields, Gracyn Shields, Makayla Pierce, Malen Pierce and Ashton Stone; a special friend and co-worker, David Harrington along with, Butch Moore, Glen Linville and a host of friends;
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday at Ware Funeral Home by Clif Marshall. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday. Burial will be Battle Grove Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Glen Linville, John Arnold, John Philips, David Harrington, Darrell O’Brien and Billy Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Laytart, Chucky Garrison, Butch Moore, Billy Earl North, Floyd Shingleton, Bobby Darrell Linville, Randy “Blu” McBride and Chris Arnett.
