Obituary for Jerry Leslie Anderson

JERRY LESLIE ANDERSON, age 69, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at his home in Augusta, Kentucky, after a long battle with cancer. Jerry was born on March 5, 1941 in Harrison County, Kentucky and spent most of his life in Harrison and Robertson Counties.

He is survived by his son, John Matthew "Matt" Anderson; Matt's wife, Valerie; his adored granddaughter, Arabel Lesley; a beloved dog, Princess, and special friends, Teresa Benedict and George Newsom. Jerry is preceded in death by a son, Daniel Pratt Anderson and Jerry's father, John Leslie Anderson.

Jerry volunteered for service in the United States Navy and subsequently served, two tours of duty in the Vietnam War on the U.S.S. Ticonderoga before being honorably discharged in 1969. A hard-worker with a strong work ethic, he earned his living as a professional truck driver, a farmer, and auctioneer. Jerry was a proud forty-six year member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #438.

Jerry is also survived by his mother, Bessie Anderson; two sisters, Betty (Billy) Ashcraft and Doris Cain; two brothers, Eddie (Lorraine) Anderson and Freddie (Teresa) Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A. M. Wednesday at Robertson County Funeral Home by Rev. Scott Stith. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P. M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Kentontown Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Louisville Scottish Rite Foundation, 200 East Gray Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40202.

An honorary pallbearer will be Richard Viglione.
