John C. Schreiber, age 94, Cynthiana, died on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. Born in Detroit, Michigan on May 19, 1928 to Joseph F. and Beatrice T. Schreiber, retired Ladish employee, and served 16 years on the Harrison County School Board. John was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Elks Lodge #438. Besides his parents he was proceeded in death by his wife Mabel Schreiber, a brother Joe Schreiber (Virginia), stepmother Josephine Schreiber, two stepsisters Mary Lou Carlson, Alvina Jean Hoffman, and one stepbrother Donald Steuber.
He is survived by two brothers Fr. Larry Schreiber (New Mexico), Les Schreiber (Washington), one sister Bea Reinersman (Ohio), three sons, Karl Schreiber (Georgetown, KY), Johnny Schreiber (Leigh Ann), Joe Schreiber (Amy), six grandchildren, Laurie Schreiber, Taylor (Derek) Tackett, Spencer Hughes, John Taylor Schreiber, Olivia Grace Hughes, Sara Schreiber, and one great grandson Damon Ross.
A mass of Christian burial will be conducted 1:00 P.M. on Friday, March 24, 2023 at St. Edward Catholic Church by Father Niby Kannai. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Ware Funeral Home with rosary at 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in St. Edward Cemetery following the service.
