Obituary for Johnny Becham Varner
Johnny P. Beckham Varner, age 78, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 of complications due to congestive heart failure and COVID-19.
Johnny was a graduate of Harrison County High School and a graduate of Georgetown College with a BA in Biology. He also served in the US Navy. He received an MA Eastern Kentucky University in Botany. He was a science instructor for Harrison County High School and a science professor for Georgetown College.
An avid hiker and diver Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, H.B. and Dolorus Varner and his only brother, Harry David Varner all of Cynthiana. He is survived by his only niece Jenny Lynn Varner Hatter (Harland), his only great nephew Harrison Clay Hatter and one sister-in-law, Fernita “Shug '' Varner all of Cynthiana. Survivors also include his special friend Mr. Kerry Chambers of Paris, Kentucky.
