Obituary for Joseph Raymond Zaragoza Sr.

Joseph Raymond Zaragoza Sr., 90, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022, at River Valley Nursing Home. He was born in Los Angeles, CA, on December 11, 1931, to the late Frank and Rosa Zaragoza. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Rosalie Zaragoza (his twin), Jessie Samano, Connie Wolheter; and five brothers, Daniel Zaragoza, Rudolph (Sam) Zaragoza, Isiah Samano, Salvador Samano, and Frank Zaragoza Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lourdes Bombase Zaragoza; a son, Joseph (Tammy) Raymond Zaragoza Jr.; two daughters, Rose (Dan) Clifford, Christine (Les) Alee Jenkins; three grandchildren, Adam Clifford, Bryson Clifford, Raymond Richard Zaragoza; three great grandchildren, Elijah Zaragoza, Alexander Zaragoza, and Isabella Zaragoza.
Joseph was a Sargent in the US Air Force, he is a Korean War Veteran, spent over 40 years of his life learning and teaching the art of Yoshukai Karate. He achieved the rank of 4th degree black belt (Shihan). In 1970, Mr. Zaragoza, with his wife Lonnie Zaragoza, opened the first Yoshukai Karate School in Titusville, FL. The school is open to this day, 52 years later. Joseph was an aerospace technician and worked on all of the Apollo Moon Missions that put the first man on the moon. He also worked on all the space shuttle missions and worked on the development of the B1 Bomber.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at St. Edward Catholic Church. Father Niby Kannai will officiate services. Visitation will be on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Ware Funeral Home. Contributions may be made in honor of Mr. Zaragoza to either Bluegrass Care Navigators, 1317 US Hwy 62 E, Cynthiana, KY; or Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Dr., Maysville, KY 41056.
