Kathy Ann Whalen Masterson, age 67, Cynthiana, died Thursday, March 30, 2023 at her residence. Born in Harrison County on March 23, 1956 to the late Harry Jackson and Millie Mae Harney Whalen, she was a retired Certified Nurse’s Assistant and a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Lexington. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Lowell Smiley.
She is survived by her husband, Darryl Masterson; four sons, Joshua Allen (Rebecca) Wilson, Thomas James “T.J.” (Krystal) Wilson, Blade Michael Ray (Jason) Masterson and Christopher Masterson; two daughters, Samantha Masterson and Shari (Alex Claire) Jimenez; a brother, Harry Jaye (Teresa) Whalen; two sisters, Jeannie Faye Smiley and Kaye (Verner) McKenney; fifteen grandchildren; a special niece, Mandy (Dean) Kidwell; numerous nieces and nephews and three special friends, Jean Ann Hammons, Kim Dyer and Gilda Faye Tyree.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Ware Funeral Home by Bro. Joshua Wilson with visitation at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Raven Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Life Baptist Church, 333 Redding Road, Lexington, Kentucky 40517 or Bluegrass Care Navigators, 1317 U.S. Highway 62 East, Cynthiana, Kentucky 41031.
