Obituary for Laura Jeanne Ellis
LAURA JEAN "JEANNE" ELLIS, age 55, Mann Lane, Mt. Olivet, died Monday, May 24, 2010 at her residence after a strong fight against cancer. Born in Maysville, November 7, 1954, to Ruth Workman Carpenter of Lexington and the late, Robert W. Mann, she was a Deming High School graduate, retired Robertson County Fiscal Court Finance Officer, former member of the Piqua Homemakers Club, the State Treasurer of Kentucky Homemakers Association and treasurer of the National Volunteer Outreach Network, Inc. (NVON). Jeanne was a member of the Governor's Commission on Family Farms from 2008 until 2009, a District 9 Farm Bureau Women's Chair, owner of Ellis Tax Services and a life long member of Piqua Christian Church.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Keith Ellis; a daughter, Laura (fiancé, John Marshall and his daughter, Madigan) Ellis and her beloved grandson, Braxton, Falmouth; three brothers, Robert W. Mann, Jr., Mt. Olivet, Matthew (Ralpha) Mann, Lexington and Mark (Cassie) Mann, Sellarsburg, Indiana; four sisters, Lisa (Steve) Lemons, Versailles, Patricia (Michael) Sims, Morehead and Susan (Rick) Caldwell and Heidi (Jason) Reihing, both of Lexington; three aunts, Alice Miller, Bessalee Robinson and Joann (Willard) Bohrer; her mother-in-law, Loretta Ellis; three sisters-in-law, Amy (Jeff) Cox, Emily (Rich) Koans and Kendra (Chris) Gooden; a brother-in-law, Tommy (Patty) Ellis and several nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved pets.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Piqua Christian Church by Bro. Tom Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and 9:00 A.M. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Piqua Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Deming High School Band or the Deming High School Future Farmer's of America (FFA). Arrangements are under the direction of Robertson County Funeral Home.
