Marvin Earl “Curly” Florence Jr., 75, passed away, Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Georgetown Community Hospital. He was born in Harrison County on December 1, 1946 to the late Marvin Earl, Sr. and Sue Thomas Nichols Florence, he was owner and operator of Iva’s Place and Florence Trucking. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Barker and two brothers-in-law, Charle Barker and Forrest Arnold.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Herron Florence; two sons, Timothy (Deah) Florence and Anthony (Heather) Florence; two daughters, Deena Jackson and April Cook; a sister, Margaret Arnold; ten grandchildren, Jessica (Kevin) Miller, Courtney (Jeff) Perkins, Codie Cook, Justin (Megan) Cook, Presley Jackson, Jadyn Shaw, McKenzie Florence, Travis Florence, Maddie Florence and Mareah Florence; five great grandchildren, Noah Perkins, Brooklyn Perkins, Kinsley Perkins, Willow Cook and Jesse Cook and fur babies Lily, Gizmo and Lucy.
A celebration of life will begin at noon Saturday, October 1, 2022 and go until close at Iva’s Place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
