Obituary for Mary Sue Coppage (Pope)

Mary Sue Pope Barnes Coppage, 92, of Cynthiana, KY peacefully passed away on February 24, 2022. Mary Sue was born on May 24, 1929, in Harrison County, KY to the late Turley and Anna Pope.
Mary Sue graduated from Oddville High School in the class of 1947. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and farming. She had a passion for making quilts and working jigsaw puzzles. She was a member of Cynthiana Baptist Church and was a Harrison County Homemaker for many years. Mary Sue was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Barnes, her husband, Ralph Coppage, and her granddaughter Anna Elizabeth Butler. She is also preceded in death by four brothers, Edgar Pope, William Pope, Ira Pope, and George Pope; two sisters, Amo Henderson and Joy Smolinski.
Left to cherish her memory is a son, Jeffrey (Connie) Barnes, two daughters, Cathy (Larry) Garrison, and Virgie (Allen) Burns. She is also survived by two sisters, Cordelia Bennett and Helen Mitchell, and one brother, Henry Pope. Mary Sue is also survived by eight grandchildren, Erica Sims, Lynn (Paul) Rodgers, Emily Stumbo, Derrick (Katie) Butler, Melissa (David) Ott, David (Jessica) Barnes, Rachel (Josh) Curtis, and Jacob Barnes. She is also survived by seventeen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Mary Sue will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Ware Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, February 28, 2022, between the hours of 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ware Funeral Home. Jeromy Northcutt and Bruce Templeton will be officiating. Burial will be held at Battle Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions are suggested to Oneida Baptist Institute at 11 Mulberry Street, Oneida, KY 40972.
