Obituary for Wayne Kearns

M. Wayne Kearns achieved his Heavenly reward on May 17th, 2022. Wayne was born in Harrison County to Leo and Ruby Harney Kearns on May 6th, 1939. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and above all a follower of Christ Jesus.

Wayne married Jane Muntz on December 28th, 1958. Wayne was devoted to his children, Kevin Wayne (Angie Faulkner), Katrina (Corbett Caudill), and Kendrea (Greg Tillett). He was a most loving and devoted grandpapa and pop-pop to Jared (Caroline Hehr) Kearns and Miranda (Jared “Bug” Bell), Bryce and Jackson Wayne Tillett, and Raven Caudill. Wayne was the most loving and devoted great-grandpapa to Celia and Claire Kearns, and Rain Nguyen.

Wayne is also survived by his siblings Billy (Barbara) Kearns, Jimmy (Kim) Kearns, Gary (Rita) Kearns, Phyllis Hill, sister-in-law, Patricia Kearns, brother-in-law, Randall Boyers, and dear friends Jimmy and Caroline Caskey. Wayne will be mourned and missed by a host of friends and family. Wayne will also be missed by his loyal canine companion, Sassy.

Wayne was a member of Connersville Christian Church, where he served as a deacon, elder, and as the board treasurer for 37 years. Wayne retired from Ladish Company and the Harrison County Board of Education where he was “Mr. Kearns” the bus driver. Wayne recently retired from Kearns Tax Service after 57 years. Wayne also served as a special police officer for the Cynthiana Police Department from the 1970s – the 1990s. Wayne enjoyed his years camping with the Harrison County Rainbow Good Sams and was an avid motorcyclist for over 20 years. In the last year, Wayne enjoyed taking his wife on long drives to see deer and turkey.

Besides his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother Larry Kearns.

Wayne’s Christian burial will be conducted by Bro. Clifford Neat and Warren French at the Connersville Christian Church with the services of Ware Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church on Monday evening, May 23rd from 5-8pm. The funeral will be at the church on Tuesday, May 24th at 11am. Wayne’s casket will be attended by Corbett Caudill, Greg Tillett, Bryce Tillett, Jackson Wayne Tillett, Jared Kearns, Jared Bell, Ricky Woolums, and Byron Boyers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Connersville Christian Church Board, Randall Boyers, Jimmy Caskey, and Desmond Canter. Memorials may be made to Connersville Christian Church or Bluegrass Care Navigators.
