Obituary for Opal Dean Thomas (Thaxton)

Opal Dean Thomas, age 91, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Hospice of Hope in Maysville, KY. She was born in Robertson County on May 17, 1931 to the late Charlie E. Thaxton and Thelma Orme Thaxton Wright. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Clarence E. (Deb)Thomas; and three brothers, Kelly Thaxton, Charles Thaxton, Roy Wayne Thaxton, and a stepbrother, Douglas Wright.
She was a 1977 graduate of Maysville Community College. She was also a registered nurse and worked at Johnson Mathers Nursing Home until she retired. She served as a Hospice of Hope volunteer for over twenty years.
She is survived by two sons, Kevin (Gayle) Thomas of Lexington, Duane (Glenda) Thomas of Georgetown; one daughter, Melanie (Calvin) Denton of Carlisle; and five grandchildren, Kari (Matt) Robinson, Kristie Gifford, Katie (Mike) Zornes, Justin Thomas, Keely Thomas, and two great-grandchildren, Tori and Ty Robinson.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 10th at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 173 N Main Street, Mt. Olivet, Ky, 41064.
Active pallbearers will be Justin Thomas, Calvin Denton, Matt Robinson, Mike Zornes, Ty Robinson, and Aaron Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Opal’s nephews, members of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, and the Hospice of Hope Staff. View and sign the guest book www.warefuneralhome.com.
