Obituary for Phyllis Gilliam (Gaines)

Our precious angel, Phyllis Gaines Gilliam was born in Harlan County on July 7, 1944 and received her wings on Monday, January 30, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her father Paul Gaines, her mother, Evelyn Gaines, her father-in-law, Pearl Gilliam and her mother-in-law, Elsie Gilliam, one brother Leon Gaines and two sisters, Sandra Offutt, and Glenda Rader, one sister-in-law, Jean Rice, and four brothers-in-law, Lester Gilliam, Chester Rice, William Derringer and Claude Jesse.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 62 years, Chester Gilliam, her son Ricky (Debbie) Gilliam, her daughter Donna (Chad) Holsinger, one granddaughter, Michelle (Jimmy) Praria, three grandsons, Michael (Nikki) Gilliam, Brandon Saylor, Jonathan (Caralea) Saylor, one great granddaughter, MacKenzie Praria, six great grandsons, Brad Praria, Andrew Gilliam, Isaiah Saylor, Carter Gilliam, Cooper Gilliam, and Elisha Saylor. She also leaves behind one sister, Brenda Derringer, three brothers, Dencil (Diana) Gaines, David (Patricia) Gaines and Mike (Carrie) Gaines, two brothers-in-law, Sylvester (Helen) Gilliam, Homer Rader, one sister-in-law, Karen Gilliam and a host of nieces and nephews. Last but not least, her faithful furbaby, Maisy Grace whom she loved dearly.

Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother. She was steadfast in her belief in family and God. She was a friend to all that met her. Her memory will forever live in our hearts.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Ware Funeral Home by Bro. Ronald Johns. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
