Obituary for Ramona Ann Ramsey (Thomas)
Ramona Ann Thomas Ramsey, born May 28th, 1933 passed away Thursday, June 10th, 2021. She was the eldest and only living child of the late Albert “Newt” and Edith Persinger Thomas. She married Earl Junior Ramsey January 19, 1952. Earl passed away May 14, 1990. Also, her oldest son Steven Earl Ramsey passed away September 25, 2019.
She is survived by her son David Scott Ramsey and his wife Jeanetta Lynn Middleton Ramsey and one great grandson, Colton Justice. Also, a daughter-in-law Kathy Ramsey (Steve’s wife). A stepdaughter Joan Ramsey McMahan, her son Shane Todd and grandson Cole Todd.
Other members of Ramona’s family are three grandsons, Steven Thomas and Melissa. A great-granddaughter Lillian Kay Ramsey and two step great grandchildren. Michael Travis and Lena Ramsey and Matthew Ramsey and one great granddaughter Madlyn Ramsey. Two great grandchildren Billy Joe Singer and Teresa. Four step great grandchildren and one great, great step grandchild, Jami Singer and Shawana and four step great grandchildren, Vickie and Charlie Clos, two great grandchildren, Ashley and Zach, three great, great grandchildren.
Ramona began her career after graduation in 1951 with AT&T as a long distance operator for the a few years and after that she moved to several positions. She ended her career as first time manager in the computer room after 36 years.
After a couple of months she decided farm life was not for her, so she took a H&R Block course and ended a second career after 26 years.
In the meantime, Ramona was very active in Oakland Christian Church.
She was also a very active member of Millersburg, KY Post 251, holding many offices.
She later moved to Cynthiana with a very loveable companion, Larry Barnett. She changed her membership to Central Christian Church after a few years of attendance. Covid-19 and cancer caused her from being unable to attend. Ramona was always in good health until six years ago.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Chester Wayne, Ronald Eugene, Jackie Leroy, Gary Albert, Roger Lynn and sister Judith Kaye Tucker and several nieces and nephews.
She was very blessed to have the Ramsey family as her in-laws and the Barnett family as lovely friends.
Pallbearers: Tony Ramsey, Jeffery Thomas, Jackie Thomas, Tommy Ramsey, Michael Ramsey, Gary Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers: Michael Thomas, Darwin Thomas, Keith Thomas, Darien Ramsey, Tammy Ramsey, Melvin Ramsey, Raymond Ramsey.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 15th at Oakland Christian Church at 149 Oakland Church Road in Falmouth, KY 41040 at 11:00 A.M with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M at Oakland Christian Church. A visitation will be conducted Monday, June 14th at Ware Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. A burial will be held at Neave Cemetery at 3276 Willow Neave Road Falmouth, KY 41040.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Oakland Christian Church.
