Obituary for Rose Marie Custard (Moore)

Rose Marie Moore-Custard was born June 10, 1938, to the late George Moore and Dorothy Homer-Moore in Georgetown, Kentucky. She was united in Holy matrimony to Marcellus P. Custard, Sr., on June 21, 1956, who preceded her in death along with sons, Marcellus P. Custard, Jr., Clark S. Custard, daughter: Marie Moore-Fogle, Brothers: Walter, Pete, Michael, and John Robinson. Sisters: Corine Moore and Linda Robinson, and Granddaughter: Ida Lynn Henry.
Rose accepted Christ in May 1959 at the old Macedonia Baptist Church under the late Reverend J. D. Porterfield in Cynthiana, Kentucky. She was educated in the Ed Davis Public School system in Georgetown, Kentucky. While at Macedonia Baptist under the late J. C. Ray, she served as Secretary of the Usher Board and Assistant Treasurer of Sunday School. Rose was a mighty songstress in the choir, a Trustee, Assistant President of the Baptist Women’s Educational program until assigned as a Mother. Rose followed her husband as he pastored until his death. Rose then reunited back to Macedonia under the leadership of Pastor Anthony Stevenson. Rose enjoyed being a member of the Homemakers with her lifelong friend Mrs. Jeannie Willis, where she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and traveling. Also, she enjoyed traveling with her later husband and pastor, Marcellus P. Custard, Sr., where she traveled from state to state singing and witnessing to anyone who would listen and those who wouldn’t. In her latter days, if you spoke with Rose, she would tell you; “It’s alright because God works when no man works and I know He will!”
Mother Rose leaves to cherish her memories three children: Edna Burden of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Walter (Tonya) Custard of Cynthiana, Kentucky, and Lady Mary (Pastor Kelvin) Austin of St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Alexis (Dr. Jon) of Mobley of Tennessee, who she raised until eighth grade as her very own (Precious), and a very special daughter, Dr. Brenda Wakefield. Six siblings: Clark (Ella) Moore of Lexington, Kentucky, Mary Robinson of Lexington, KY, Patricia Robinson of Georgetown, Kentucky, Dorothy (Richard) Bradshaw of Frankfort, KY, Joel (Carol) Robinson of Ohio and Ella Robinson of Lexington, Kentucky. Two Brother-in-Laws and two Sister-in-Laws, Robert (Patsy) Custard, Joe Custard, and Vivian Custard all from Cynthiana, Kentucky. One son-in-law, Jerry Fogle, Sr. of Florida, thirteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
