Obituary for Russell H. Gaunce Sr.

RUSSELL H.GAUNCE, SR., age 70, Mt. Olivet, formerly of Harrison County, died Friday, August 7, 2009, at Harrison Memorial Hospital. Born in Bourbon County, September 2, 1938, to the late Reynolds and Emma Kate Gilbert Gaunce, he was a former employee of Harrison Memorial Hospital for seven years, a retired employee of Bundy Tubing for twenty eight years and a member of Fosters Chapel United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church in Zolfo Springs, Florida. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Parks; two grandchildren, Jonathan Robert Gaunce and Amy Jo Gaunce and a stepgrandchild, Gwen Ann Hardwick.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Gaunce; three sons, Jeffrey (Lisa) Gaunce, Robbie (Jeanette) Gaunce and Russell (Allison) Gaunce, Jr., all of Cynthiana; a daughter, Darla (Todd) Johnson, Cynthiana; two stepsons, Michael (Karen) French, Lancaster and William L. French, Texas; three stepdaughters, Debbie Allen and Teresa (Terry) King, both of Mt. Olivet and Lisa Hamilton, Carlisle; a sister, Patsy (Gene) Dawson, Cynthiana; eight grandchildren, Wesley Gaunce, Nicholas Gaunce, Amanda Gaunce, Kaitlin Johnson, Whitney Gaunce, Kethan Johnson, Aaron Gaunce and Andrew Gaunce; nine stepgrandchildren, Brad King, Mikayla King, Jason French, Shane Barnes, Drew Allen, Kelsi Allen, Sara Hamilton, Sam Hamilton and Stuart Poe and a great grandchild, Caleb Barnes.

Funeral services will conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday at Robertson County Funeral Home by Rev. Kenneth Newby and Rev. Terry McDuffey. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M. Sunday at Ware Funeral Home in Cynthiana and 8:00 A.M. Monday at Robertson County Funeral Home. Burial will be in Foster's Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Foster's Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
