Obituary for Sarah Joyce Wood

SARAH JOYCE WOOD, age 80, Strodes Run Road, Maysville, died Monday, January 6, 2014, at her residence. Born in Robertson County, June 29, 1933, to the late Teddy R. and Ella Mildred Bradley Brierly, she was a homemaker and a lifelong artist. Mrs. Wood was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of which she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Women and was a Gateway Museum volunteer. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dr. William Robert Wood; two brothers, Glenn Brierly and Owen Brierly and two sisters, Ruby Brierly McGlouglan and Ruth Ann Brierly Jett.

She is survived by two sons, Mont (Carol) Wood M.D., Madisonville and Brad (Nancy) Wood, Lexington; a daughter, Denise (Dan) Clapp, Covington; two brothers, Frankie (Pat) Brierly, Felicity, Ohio and Gary (Frank Duncan) Brierly, Aptos Beach, California; a sister-in-law, Mollie Wood Heisel, Georgetown, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren, Meaghan Wood (Jeremy) Teal, Lauren Wood (Derek) Wester, Lindsay Wood (Kyle) Summers, Matthew Wood, Sarah Wood, Brenna Wood, Brierly Clapp (Seth) Branson, Daniel Clapp, Caleb Clapp, Alden Clapp, Tyler Bradley Wood, William Cody Wood, Alex Jordan Wood and Ryan Logan Wood; two great grandsons, Jackson Teal and Gus Summers and special nieces, Ann Jett (Sonny) Bramer, Maysville and Janie (Jim) Jett-Mason, Owensboro.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Maysville by Rev. Eric Patterson, Rev. Mike Rice and Rev. Ray Throckmorton. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Robertson County Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fosters Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church. The grandsons and Seth Branson will serve as pallbearers.
