Obituary for Vera Kay Florence (Whalen)
Vera Kay Whalen Florence, of Cynthiana, age 75, passed away on March 13, 2024, at her home. She was born in Cynthiana on August 15, 1948, to the late Anna Sue and Harold “Gene” England, and her father, Donald Whalen. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Hart.
Vera had a love for many things: her grandchildren, camping, mowing. . . She loved to shop, especially on QVC; birds, mainly purple martins, and hummingbirds; Vera was also a member of Beaver Baptist Church. Lastly, she loved and leaves behind her dog Abby. Vera will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Vera is survived by her husband Allen P. “Sonny” Florence Jr.; two sons, Steve (Amber) Hill, Jessie (Ginny) Florence; two daughters, Bridget (Mike) Ravenscraft, Angie (Brian) Wood; sister, Donna Ross; grandchildren, Shawn (Kelly) Ravenscraft, Makayla (Jack Thompson) Ravenscraft, Desiree Florence, Cheznie (Willie Middleton) Florence, Kendalynn Whitaker-Florence, Bailey Wood; one great-grandchild, River King; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Ware Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Vera’s memory to Beaver Baptist Church, 112 KY Highway 3003, Cynthiana, KY 41031, or to Bluegrass Care Navigators, 1317 US Highway 62 E, Cynthiana, KY 41031.
