Obituary for Walter "Scotty" Graves

WALTER "SCOTTY" GRAVES, age 72, Brooksville, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville. Born in Robertson County, March 19, 1940, to the late Clifton and Emalene Jett Graves, he worked forty-eight years in the Ladish building and was an engineer most of the time, at the end he was a facility manager, president of the United Steel Workers of America and a 1959 graduate of Deming High School, where he was an outstanding athlete. Mr. Graves was inducted into the 10th Region Basketball Hall of Fame and played amateur fast and slow pitch baseball and softball. He had a great passion for sports, especially basketball and a love for the outdoors and hunting, mainly deer hunting. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Graves and Wayne Graves and a sister, Janet Graves England.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Patricia Perkins Graves; a son, Matt (Christy) Graves, Mt. Olivet; three daughters, Kelly (Mark) Miller, Mt. Olivet, Adrienne (David) Carmack, Mt. Olivet and Stacie Graves Jett, Brooksville; a brother, Bobby (Diana) Graves, Maysville; two sisters, Joyce (Bud) Clark, Maysville and Mary (Tommy) Orme, Nicholasville; eleven grandchildren, Amanda Miller, Travis Miller, Erin Carmack, Kelsey Carmack, Kaci Graves, Kristen Graves, Kenzi Graves, Kamryn Graves, Bailey Sendelbach, Gavin Jett and Sierra Jett; several nieces and nephews and host of many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Robertson County Funeral Home by Bro. Dee Whitaker. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. Saturday. Burial will be in Kentontown Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Larry Snapp, Jim Sharp, Jim Hammons, Jeff Collins, Freddie Fralix, Bill Leet and Wendell "Whitie" Fralix. Honorary pallbearers will be Angela Franklin and Trudie Harrison.
