William Wendell Mains, of Cynthiana, KY, age 83, passed away on February 1, 2024, at Baptist Health Hospital. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on April 4, 1940, to the late William James and Vanessa Hill Mains. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Basil Mains; and sisters, Iva Joy Mains and Hazel Mains. William was in the Canadian Armed Forces and proudly served as a guard for Queen Elizabeth. He was the president of the United Steel Workers in Calgary, Alberta. William was also very active in his community.
William is survived by his wife, Janina Mains; sons, William (Sherry Sands) Mains Jr. and Scott (Jennifer) Mains; daughters, Lisa (Randy) Reed and Wendy (Brent) Kane; sister, Ferne Macdonald; grandchildren, Andrew Mains, Dillon Mains, Samantha Mains, Dalton Maddox, Dylan Maddox, Graham Reed, Christopher Reed, Pamela Reed, Thomas Kane, Ali Kane- Decaire and Emmy Patterson; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Reed, Jacob Reed, Celine Reed, Liam Decaire, Charlotte Decaire, Russell, Kane, Lenny Kane and Nathan Patterson.
Services will be private at the convience of the family.
